I haven’t looked at snapfish but I would imagine it’s similar to other online photo book companies where they only offer a few different papers and sizes and don’t do any pre-prep checks on printing. Some of them are really good though and if I was doing a memory book for me (like a travel journal or something that’s something I would use). With an art book for me it’s more important to have complete control over design and, for example, the paper that would best suit the type of photography in my book. So for example with this one the cover has French flaps and inside those is text important to the book (and the graphic flows through from the front). Also the paper is beautiful because it has a matte look on the borders where it isn’t printed on but when you print on it those areas end up having a slight sheen (similar to how my fine art photographic prints are). I also work with the printer to produce test prints to make sure the work is being shown exactly how I want it. None of these options would be available if I went to an online book company. Hope that helps but feel free to ask any further questions.
I still remember our first conversation about this back in 2019, I thought it sounded a wonderful project and I wanted to be around to see how it turned out.
It really is a book of beauty I was so excited to hold my copy, not surprised to be welling up before I got past the front cover and am spending a lot of time getting lost in your images, well done and thank you! X
Can I ask what may be perhaps a naive question?
What makes this sort of photo book so much different and better than, say, making one online through Snapfish?

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense to me. And so far it is more travel journey that I’ve been doing 🙏🏼
This looks both rich in texture and colour, the layout is equally beautiful. Very nicely done! Congratulations on a fine result!!
Thank you Søren, appreciate your lovely comments!
Gosh thank you for those lovely words Sandra!
